1A: ON-SITE SKECTHING

​

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS TO INTRODUCED STUDENTS TO VISUALIZATION AND EXPRESSION OF SPACE THROUGH ON-SITE SKETCHING ACTIVITY ON CAMPUS. EACH STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO ENGAGE WITH  THE SITE BY EXPERIENCING IT THROUGH A SPATIAL SEQUENCE OF THEIR CHOICE AND RECORD IT THROUGH FREE-HAND SKETCHES.

PROJECT 1: SKECTHCES

FROM THIS ASSIGNMENT, I HAVE LEARNT TO DEVELOP MY SKILLS IN VISUALIZING OF SPACE THROUGH OBSERVATION AND PERCEPTION OF A GIVEN SITE AND SKILLS IN SKETCHING AS A MODE OF COMMUNICATION. FOR EXAMPLE, THE TEXTURE, MATERIALS, SETTING, LIGH& SHADOW, SCALE AND PROPORTION. BESIDES, I FIND THAT THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT SKETCHING AND DRAWING STYLES, AND I HOPE TO LEARN AS MANY AS I CAN TO ENHANCE MY SKETCHING SKILLS.

1B: TONAL VALUES

 

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS TO BUILD UPON THE PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT, IN DEVELOPING OUR SKILLS IN CREATING DEPTH AND TONE IN A SKETCH, AND THUS REFINING AND ENHANCING THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE AN ARCHITECTURAL SKETCH THAT IS LEGIBLE. THE TASK FOR THIS PROJECT IS TO PRODUCE FOUR VARIATIONS OF A TONAL VALUE SKETCH BASED ON THE SELECTED IMAGE.THE HATCHING TYPES ARE INCLUDE STIPPLING, CROSS-HATCHING, ONE-DIRECTIONAL AND SCRIBBLING.

I HAVE DEVELOPED VARIOUS TECHNIQUES OF HATCHING THROUGH DIFFERENT MEDIUM AND THE SKILLS IN COMMUNICATING IN VARIOUS TONAL AND DEPTH VALUE. MOREOVER, NOTION OF SPACE & DETAILING'S IN ARCHITECTURE AND OBJECTS CAN BE UNDERSTOOD THROUGH THIS ASSIGNMENT.

PROJECT 2 : ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS

2A :PLAN, SECTIONS, ELEVATIONS

IN THIS FIRST PART OF SECOND PROJECT, WE WERE ASSIGNED TO DEMONSTRATE DRAFTING SKILLS IN MODERN AND TRADITIONAL METHODS OF ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS. WE HAD TO DRAFT OUT ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS ON BUTTER PAPER AS AN EVIDENCE FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT AND INKED IT UP FOR THE FINAL SUBMISSION. THE SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS WERE A FLOOR PLAN, 4 ELEVATIONS, 1 CROSS SECTION, 1 LONGITUDINAL SECTION AND A SITE PLAN.

 

 

 

 

AFTER THIS ASSIGNMENT, I HAVE LEARNT TO RECORD AND PRESENT CLEAR AND LEGIBLE ARCHITECTURAL INFORMATION MANUALLY. IN ADDITION, I HAVE ALSO LEARNT TO DEMONSTRATE LINE WEIGHTS, LINE TYPES AND LINE QUALTY IN PENCIL AND INK. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME USING TECHNICAL PENS BUT IT WAS A FUN EXPERIENCE.

2B : AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION

 

FOR THE SECOND PART OF PROJECT 2, WE WERE REQUIRED TO EXECUTE AN AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION BY GENERATING PARTIAL OF AN EXTERNAL AND A SECTIONAL (INTERNAL) AXONOMETRIC OF THE HOUSE. THESE PROJECTIONS WERE REQUIRED TO BE GENERATED AT A SCALE OF 1:75 ON AN A2-SIZED BUTTER PAPER (FOR CONSTRUCTION) AND INKED ON A2-SIZED TRACING PAPER (FOR FINAL SUBMISSION).

FROM THIS PROJECT, I HAVE UNDERSTOOD WHAT AXONOMETRIC PROJECTIONS ARE AND HOW TO GENERATE TTHEM AND HOW TO APPLY THEM TO THE DESIGN PROCESS AND PRESENTATION. FURTHERMORE, I AM ABLE TO EXPRESS SPATIAL IDEAS AND ARCHITECTURAL DETAIL IN THREE-DIMENSION OR IN THE FORMAT OF AN AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION.

 

2C : PERSPECTIVE DRAWINGS

 

THIS WAS THE LAST PART OF SECOND PROJECT, THE TASK FOR THIS PART IS TO CONSTRUCT ONE EXTERIOR (TWO POINT) PERSPECTIVE AND ONE SECTIONAL INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE. (ONE- POINT).

IN CONSTRUCTING BOTH THESE PERSPECTIVES, WE WERE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO EXPRESS SPATIAL IDEA IN 3D FORM, UNDERSTANDING OF 2D AND 3D RELATIONSHIPS IN ARCHITECTURAL GRAPHICS, SKILLS IN DRAWING AND COMPOSITION, CREATIVITY AND COMPLEXITY OF DRAWING. 

 

PROJECT 3 : FINAL PROJECT

HIDE OUT'S DRAWINGS

 

THIS WAS THE LAST PROJECT FOR SEM 1 AND IT WAS COMBINE WITH DESIGN STUDIO 1 FINAL PROJECT. WE WERE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE FLOOR PLANS, 2 ELEVATIONS, 1 SECTIONS AND 1 INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE ON 2 - 3 A2 BOARDS BASED ON OUR MODEL. THIS WAS TO TRAIN US TO PRODUCE  A WELL-ORGANIZED, SYSTEMATIC AND CREATIVE GRAPHICAL PRESENTATION THROUGH A WELL-DRAWN AND EXECUTED TWO-DIMENSIONAL FORM (PLANS, ELEVATIONS AND SECTIONS), THREE-DIMENSIONAL FORM ( SECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE, AXONOMETRIC AND PERSPECTIVE).
