PROJECT 1 : ROOF TRUSS

IN A GROUP OF 5, WE WERE ASKED TO SELECT THE DESIGN OF ONE OF THE MEMBERS IN STUDIO 3 AND RE-DESIGN THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING BY USING TRUSS DESIGNS. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDING AND ROOF DESING, DESIGN OF THE ROOF TRUSS, REFLECTED CEILING PLAN TO INDICATE THE LOAD IMPOSED AND CONNECTION DETAILS OF THE TRUSS WERE REQUIRED TO PRESENT IN AN A2 BOARD.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT, I HAVE EXPLORED AND APPLIED UNDERSTANDING OF LOAD DISTRIBUTION IN A TRUSS AND ABLE TO EVALUATE AND IDENTIFY TENSION AND COMPRESSION MEMBERS IN A TRUSS STRUCTURE, THROUGH THIS ASSIGNMENT, I HAVE ALSO EXPLORED DIFFREENT ARRANGEMENT OF MEMBERS IN A TRUSS STRUCTURE.

PROJECT 2: STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF A BUNGALOW

IN A GROUP OF 3, WE WERE ASSIGNED TO DESIGN A TWO-STOREY BUNGALOW FLOOR PLANS AND IDENTIFY THE LOCATION OF THE WALLS, BEAMS AND COLUMNS. THE PROJECT IS AN INTEGRATED COMPONENT WHERE IT INVOLVED STRUCTURAL THEORY, FORCE CALCULATION AND BASIC STRUCTURAL PROPOSAL. THEREFORE, AFTER DESIGNING THE FLOOR PLAN, EACH MEMBERS HAD TO SELECT 6 BEAMS AND 3 COLUMNS TO DO THE FORCE CALCULATIONS.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS PROJECT, I HAD A HOLISTIC EXPERIENCE INCLUDING CONCEPT AND STRUCTURE LAYOUT DESIGN, BUILDING STRUCTURE ENGINEERING CONSIDERATIONS, STRUCTURE MEMBERS SIZING AND CALCULATIONS, FINAL REPORT AND PRESENTATION. I HAVE EXPLORED AND UNDERSTOOd THE CONCEPT OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS.
