PROJECT 1 : A PERSONAL SPACE
IN A GROUP OF 3, WE WERE REQUIRED TO DESIGN A PERSONAL SPACE WHICH IS INTENDED FOR A SPECIFIC USER BASED ON AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF THE USER'S NEED. THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY IN A DESIGN AND STUDENT'S ABILITY TO MEET THE IMPERATIVE ND INTER-RELATED SOCIAL NEEDS. PROJECT 1 WILL PREPARE US TO PROGRAMMATIC REQUIREMENTS OF SPECIFIC GROUP OF USERS FOR PROJECT 2.
WE PAID A VISIT TO AN ELDERLY CENTER IN CHERAS, AND INTERVIEWED AN OLD LADY TO UNDERSTAND HER SPECIFIC NEED. BASED ON THE INFO THAT WE GOT FROM HER, WE WERE ASKED TO DEVELOP THE DESIGN AND PRODUCE A FINAL PROPOSAL FOR FINAL PRESENTATION.
PROJECT 2: CENTER FOR THE ELDERLY
GROUP: SITE ANALYSIS
THE ELDERLY CENTER IS LOCATED IN A SUBURBAN AREA WITH SOME COMPLEXITY THAT INCLUDES THE COMPLEXITY OF SITE TOPOGRAPHY AND VEGETATION AND SOCIO-CULTURAL EVENTS. STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE FULL DESIGN PROPOSAL INCORPORATING PRECEDENT STUDY AND SITE ANALYSIS AT APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF PRESENTATION. THIS HELPS TO EXPLORE DESIGN SOLUTION THAT HARNESS ENVIRONMENT QUALITIES AND CONDITIONS FOR HUMAN AND ENVIRONEMTN SUSTAINABILITY.

THERE ARE TWO PARTS IN PROJECT 2, WHICH ARE GROUP WORK AND INDIVIDUAL WORK. PROJECT 2 REQUIRED AN ANALYSIS OF THE SITE CONTEXT, BECAUSE THE SITE NEEDS TO BE UNDERSTOOD AND ANALYSED. SOCIETY, CULTURE, HISTORY, MEMORY AND LANDSCAPE OF A PLACE ECHOES THE MEANING OF THE PLACE.
SITE CONDITIONS & ANALYSIS
FOR THIS PROJECT, WE WENT TO TAMAN KANAGAPURAM, OLD KLAG ROAD TO CONDUCT SITE ANALYSIS OF THE PHYSICAL CONTEXT WITHIN THE IDENTIFIED MACRO AND MICRO SITES. WE WERE ASKED TO SUBMIT OUR ANALYSIS IN AN A1 BOARD.
INDIVIDUAL: DESIGN OF ELDERLY CENTER
EACH OF US MUST IDENTIFY AND RESEARCH THE USER NEEDS, AND BRAINSTORM IDEAS FOR EXPLORATION OF THE COMMUNAL SPACE BASED ON THE SITE AND USER NEEDS. OUR DESIGNS HAVE TO FULFILL THE REQUIREMENTS BELOW:

PEDESTRIAN CIRCULATION : CONSIDERATION OF THE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS INTO AND AROUND THE SITE
EACH OF THE STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT THEIR INDIVIDUAL WORK IN 4 A1 PANELS AND A 1:100 MODEL
THE PANELS SHOULD INCLUDiNG A SITE PLAN, 1:100 PLANS, ELEVATIONS AND SECTIONS, DIAGRAMS SHOWING DESIGN CONCEPT, SITE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN IMPLICATION, AND 2 PERSPECTIVES.
AFTER THIS PROJECT, I HAVE LEARNT TO APPLY IDEAS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN DESIGN AND TO DESIGN AND CREATE ARCHITECTURAL SPACES WITH CONSIDERATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POETICS IN RELATION TO THE BASIC NATURAL CONTEXT AND EXISTING BUILT CONTEXT WHICH IMPACT ON USERS' EXPERIENCES. BESIDES, WE HAVE TAUGHT TO COMBINE THE ENVIRONMENTAL NEEDS, THE SITE , AND THE USERS' EXPERIENCE WITH SIMPLE BUILDING DESIGN IN THE OPEN LANDSCAPE/ SUBURBAN CONTEXT. THIS PROJECT HELPS US TO DEVELOP OUR ABILITY TO MEET THE IMPERATIVE AND INTER-RELATED ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS, AS WELL AS MAKE POETRY WITH THE BUILDINGS.

FROM THIS PROJECT I HAVE LEARNT TO DEVELOP AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN ARCHTECTURAL DESIGN AND ABILITY TO MEET THE IMPERATIVE AND INTER-RELATED ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS, AS WELL AS MAKE POETRY WITH THE BUILDINGS. OTHER THAN THAT, THE LEARNING OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT INCLUDES CREATING ARCHITECTURAL SPACES WITH CONSIDERATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POETICS IN RELATION TO THE BASIC NATURAL CONTEXT AND EXISTING BUILT CONTEXT.
