PROJECT 1: FAMOUS PEOPLE, FAMILIAR FACES AND DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION
FOR THIS PROJECT WE HAVE TO BE IN A GROUP OF 5, AND SELECT ONE OF THE MASTER ARCHITECT AND THEIR MASTERPIECE. MY GROUP HAVE CHOSEN MIES VAN DER ROHE AND ALSO ONE OF HIS FAMOUS MASTERPEICE, FARNSWORTH HOUSE AS OUR SITE. WE WERE REQUIRED TO INVESTIGATE AND FORMULATE OUR FINDINGS INTO A SET OF 10 ANALYSIS DIAGRAMS AND 10 DIAGRAMMATIC MODELS. THE MODELS THAT WE PRODUCED SHOULD BE PRECISE AND INFORMATIVE TO EXPRESS THE ANALYSIS OF THE IDEAS HIDDEN IN THE PROJECT ASSIGNED. OTHER THAN THAT, WE WERE ASSIGNED TO PRODUCE A COMPLETE SET OF ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS OF THE SELECTED MASTERPIECE.

THIS PROJECT IS TO INVESTIGATE AND TO EXPLORE HOW SPACES ARE CREATED FROM THE MAKING OF ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS. I HAVE REALIZED THAT I AM ABLE TO ACHIEVE A LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING ON THE WORKS ASSIGNED AND WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THE IDEA AND CONCEPT TO MY NEXT PROJECT. THE MAIN THING THAT I HAVE LEARNT THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT IS USING OURE AND DIAGRAMMATIC MODELS TO EXPRESS MY ARCHITECTURAL IDEA.
PROJECT 2A : INTRODUCTION TO SITE ANALYSIS AND OBSERVATION DECK
FOR THIS PROJECT, ALL THE STUDENTS WERE DIVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS, WHICH WERE GROUP A AND GROUP B. AFTER DIVIDING, EACH OF US HAD TO FORM GROUP OF 2 AND CONDUCT A SITE ANALYSIS OF THE PHYSICAL CONTEXT WITHIN THE OVERALL SITE GIVEN.
AFTER DOING THE SITE ANALYSIS, WE WERE ASSIGNED TO DESIGN AN OBSERVATION DECK ( WITH A MAXIMUM VOLUME OF 30M SQUARE) FOR PURPOSE OF OBSERVING THE VIEWS. THE DESIGN REQUIRED TO INCLUDE OTHER ACTIVITY AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE DECK SHOULD CORRESPOND TO THE SITE THAT WE HAVE CHOSEN.

FROM THIS PROJECT, I HAVE LEARNT TO GENERATE STRUCTURE, FORM AND SPACE THROUGH ARCHiTECTURAL CONCEPTUALISATION WITH THE EMPHASIS ON THE USER REQUIREMENT, ERGONOMICS AND SITE RESPONDING TO DEVELOP AN ARCHITECTURE PROPOSITION.THIS PROJECT IS QUITE CHALLENGING FOR ME, BECAUSE IT HAD TO CONSIDER MANY ASPECTS, FOR EXAMPLE THE SOIL CONDITION, THERE ARE HIGH TIDE, LOW TIDE AND SITE CONTEXT. ALTHOUGH THE OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT WAS NOT VERY WELL, BUT I AM STILL HAPPY TO WORK WITH MY GROUPMATE, NURIN,
PROJECT 2B: RETREAT HOUSE
THIS PROJECT IS A CONTINUATION OF THE PRVIOUS PROJECT, WE HAVE TO FURTHER DEVELOP OUR PROJECT 2A INTO A RETREAT HOUSE AT CAPE RACHADO, PORT DICKSON. THIS RETREAT HOUSE MUST FUNCTION AS HABITABLE ARCHITECTURAL SPACES TO ENABLE THE ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH SOME SPACES WITHIN THE BUILT UP SPACE OF 150 M SQUARE. THE MOST INTERESTING PART IN MAKING THE RETREAT HOUSE UNIQUE TO ITS LANDSCAPE IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OUR DESIGN AND THE CONTEXT.

THIS PROJECT LET ME UNDERSTOOD BEFORE WE DESIGN SOMETHING, WE HAVE TO GONE THROUGH A FEW STEPS. FOR EXAMPLE, INTERPRET AND ANALYSE SIMPLE SITE CONTEXT, INTERPRET AND ANALYSE CLIENT'S CHARACTER AND NEEDS IN RELATION TO THE DESIGN OF A SMALL BUILDING AND LAST WE CAN START TO DESIGN A SIMPLE BUILDING TYPE THAT MEETS USER REQUIREMENTS AND RESPECTS SITE CONTEXT THAT BALANCES BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL DESIGN VALUES. FROM THIS PROJECT, I WAS INTRODUCED TO THE NOTIONS OF CONCEPTS, PROGRAMS AND PROCESS IN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND THE AWARENESS OF SITE SPECIFIC DESIGN AN THE PROCESS OF SITE ANALYSIS.
